چکیده

Multi-species modeling is implemented for the particle-based ellipsoidal statistical Bhatnagar–Gross–Krook method monatomic species in open-source plasma simulation suite PICLas. After a literature review on available multi-species extensions of kinetic model equations and approaches determination transport coefficients, Brull's former Wilke's mixing rules collision integrals latter. The implementation verified with two test cases: supersonic Couette flow hypersonic around 70 ° blunted cone. results are compared Direct Simulation Monte Carlo (DSMC) method, where good overall agreement can be achieved. However, coefficients through offers better DSMC at acceptable computational cost. For last case, comparison efficiency presented.

Multi-Species Particle Swarm Optimizer for Multimodal Function Optimization

This paper introduces a modified particle swarm optimizer (PSO) called the Multi-Species Particle Swarm Optimizer (MSPSO) for locating all the global minima of multimodal functions. MSPSO extend the original PSO by dividing the particle swarm spatially into a multiple cluster called a species in a multi-dimensional search space. Each species explores a different area of the search space and tri...

Dual-Section DFB-QCLs for Multi-Species Trace Gas Analysis

We report on the dynamic behavior of dual-wavelength distributed feedback (DFB) quantum cascade lasers (QCLs) in continuous wave and intermittent continuous wave operation. We investigate inherent etaloning effects based on spectrally resolved light-current-voltage (LIV) characterization and perform time-resolved spectral analysis of thermal chirping during long (>5 μs) current pulses. The theo...

GAs, a Concept of Modeling Species in Genetic Algorithms

This paper introduces a niching technique called GAS (S stands for species) which dynamically creates a subpopulation structure (taxonomic chart) using a radius function instead of a single radius, and a ‘cooling’ method similar to simulated annealing. GAS offers a solution to the niche radius problem with the help of these techniques. A method based on the speed of species is presented for det...

A fast spectral method for the Boltzmann equation for monatomic gas mixtures

Although the fast spectral method has been established for solving the Boltzmann equation for single-species monatomic gases, its extension to gas mixtures is not easy because of the non-unitary mass ratio between the di↵erent molecular species. The conventional spectral method can solve the Boltzmann collision operator for binary gas mixtures but with a computational cost of the order m
